Mobile phone market: flagship chip AI performance significantly improved

AI、 Advanced manufacturing processes are becoming a keyword in the smartphone market, and two major smartphone SoC manufacturers, Qualcomm and MediaTek, are competing to launch their latest flagship chips to meet market demand.

Qualcomm's flagship chip Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition focuses on performance, AI terminals, and gaming ecology. This product adopts the second-generation 3nm process (N3E); Dual Oryon ultra large cores, with a clock speed exceeding 4.2GHz and a single core performance improvement of 35%, specializing in high load tasks such as game rendering and AI inference; Equipped with six customized performance cores, with a main frequency of 3.5GHz and an optimized energy efficiency ratio of 40%, responsible for multitasking parallel and backend management.

To meet the demand for AI computing power, Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition integrates the sixth generation AI engine (Hexagon NPU), with a computing power of 73 TOPS (73 trillion operations per second), which is 45% higher than the previous generation.

In terms of gaming experience, Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition is equipped with Adreno 830 GPU, which supports hardware level ray tracing and global lighting, and increases graphics rendering speed by 25%. Through Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology, variable resolution rendering (VRS) and game super-resolution technology are achieved.

In April of this year, MediaTek officially launched the Dimensity 9400+flagship 5G intelligent AI mobile chip, providing generative AI and intelligent AI capabilities. With high intelligence, high performance, high energy efficiency, and low power consumption, it brings a new experience to flagship smartphones.

The Dimensity 9400+adopts the second-generation full core architecture, with an 8-core CPU including one Arm Cortex-X925 ultra large core with a clock speed of up to 3.73GHz, as well as three Cortex-X4 ultra large cores and four Cortex-A720 large cores.
